Lived Diversity: Observing Passover, Easter, and Ramadan

A resource for learning and dialogue

In this 13-minute video produced by ICJS, our interreligious staff captured our own experiences of these three holidays. We’ve also created a Dialogue Facilitation Guide (below) with questions for discussion and resources for further reading.

Dialogue Facilitation Guide

We hope that you can use ICJS’s Lived Diversity: How We Observe and Celebrate Passover, Easter, and Ramadan video to engage in dialogue about religious identities and the traditions their adherents hold sacred. If you’re new to ICJS, we encourage you first to watch our Dialogue vs. Debate video for some discussion guidelines.

Questions for discussion with a partner or small group:

  • Share what makes your observance special to you. Maybe it’s a memory or tradition. Maybe a lesson you’ve learned.
    • If you’re dialoguing with someone who shares your religious background, what similarities and differences do you share in your observances? What do you appreciate about the differences?
    • If your conversation partners are religiously different from you, what did you learn about their religious background from what they shared? How has that enhanced your understanding of their religion?
  • How do each of you find  meaning in these times?
  • What do you wish other people knew about your religious observance?
  • How can learning more about each other’s religions help us combat growing religious bias and bigotry?
