Rabbi Katja Vehlow, Ph.D. currently serves as the university chaplain and campus rabbi at Fordham University in New York City. She previously trained as a hospital chaplain at Maimonides Medical Center and taught religious studies at the University of South Carolina Columbia.
Heather Miller Rubens, Ph.D. | Moderator
Heather Miller Rubens, Ph.D. is the ICJS executive director and Roman Catholic scholar. She is an experienced teacher, public speaker, facilitator, and scholar-practitioner of interreligious learning and dialogue. She develops educational initiatives that foster interreligious learning and conversation for the public in the Baltimore-Washington corridor and online. In her research and writing Heather creatively focuses on the theoretical, theological, ethical, and political implications of affirming religious diversity and building an interreligious society.
Syed Atif Rizwan, Ph.D. | Panelist
Syed Atif Rizwan, Ph.D., is director of the Catholic-Muslim Studies Program at Catholic Theological Union, where he has taught since 2018. A graduate of Rutgers University, he previously worked in the financial services industry before pursuing advanced studies in Islamic Studies at Claremont Graduate University (M.A.) and UCLA (Ph.D.). His research focuses on the history of Islamic law, hadith studies, theories of punishment, and interreligious dialogue.
