Educator Workshops

Our Educator Workshops connect and support religion, social studies, literature, and cultural studies teachers through professional development seminars, networking, and sharing of resources and classroom experiences on how to better teach about religion and interreligious encounter in today's world. We welcome teachers from public, independent, and religious schools to collaborate on common questions in their institutions. Facilitated by ICJS staff and subject area professionals, we partner with local organizations and museums to create opportunities for learning for educators. Workshops focus on a number of questions around religion in our classrooms.

This program was created by two teachers who approached the ICJS with a plan for professional development for their peers and an understanding that learning about religion is a foundation for informed local and global citizenship. The ICJS welcomed the opportunity to be a home for an emerging network of teachers dedicated to this vision of 21st-century learning.
